Here are some commonly asked questions when people first find SLAA.
How do I know if I am a sex and love addict?
The best way to find out if you are a sex and love addict is to attend 6 different meetings and see if you identify with the stories being shared and the topics being discussed. Additionally, you can review and respond to the “40 Questions for Self Assessment” which is available under the “Newcomers” tab on our website.
What does it cost to attend an SLAA meeting?
There is no cost to attend any SLAA meeting. Each meeting is funded by voluntary donations only.
Do I have to talk at meetings?
You do not need to speak at meetings. You are welcome to listen or share during the meetings at your own personal discretion.
Do I have to give my real name at meetings?
At meetings, we suggest people use their first names only so that they can maintain privacy outside of the meetings. Most members do use their real first names at meetings in order to get to know each other personally, however, you do not have to give your real name if you would prefer not to. You can attend meetings without using your name and if you ever feel comfortable you can always start using your real name when you decide to.
Is there any form or registration I need to fill out?
There are no required registration forms to attend an SLAA meeting.
Will anybody make any kind of sexual or romantic advances toward me at meetings?
This behavior is STRONGLY discouraged at meetings and is generally rare. If anybody does make inappropriate remarks to you (publicly or privately) or take inappropriate actions toward you, please reach out to other members of the meeting for assistance.
